1. Queensland Tennis Centre

Website: https://www.queenslandtenniscentre.com.au/

Address: 190 King Arthur Terrace, Tennyson QLD 4105, Australia

Contact Details: (61) 7 3214 3800

Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM; Saturday – Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

We recommend Queensland Tennis Centre not just to tennis enthusiasts, but also to tennis beginners. The club’s known for its very organised coaching programs so it’s a good place to learn the basics of tennis and to develop existing skills as well.

We love that the club has such a good court selection–some customers we talked to even described them as world-class. There’s plenty of courts available for tournaments or just regular sessions, and they’re all well-maintained!

The landscape’s beautiful so it’s also quite relaxing to walk around. The place is Instagrammable–plenty of photo-friendly areas to go to.

We also love how the place is just super clean. The tennis courts, the toilets, the shop, the park–all well-kept and/or polished!

In terms of membership, the process is like a walk-in-the-park. Queensland Tennis doesn’t have too many requirements and steps to undergo, so becoming a member’s quite convenient.

Speaking of convenience, it’s also easy to book courts! However, we want to let you know that the staff sometimes make mistakes in booking, so it’s better to call them in advance to check if your schedule’s on the list.

We’re also not too fond of the lack of access to public transportation. So bringing a car is advisable if you want a convenient trip to Queensland Tennis.

2. Morningside Tennis Centre

Website: https://morningsidetennis.com.au/

Address: 123 Beverley St, Morningside QLD 4170, Australia

Contact Details: (61) 7 3899 8110

Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM; Friday: 8:30 AM – 07:30 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM; Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

In terms of ambience and playing space, Morningside Tennis Centre’s a winner. It has a lot of tennis courts so there’s plenty of playing space for everyone, and with such a nice view too–it’s a good place to relax and just have fun.

Becoming a member’s quite an easy process too! The fee’s affordable ($20) and the enrolment process is seamless, making it convenient for anyone who wants to join.

We love that even with such an affordable fee, members get to enjoy a lot of perks. There are discounts on court hires, an automatic membership at the Tennis Queensland that includes insurance, and access to competitions and events.

Another feature we love at Morningside—the small clubhouses in between courts and shade sails around! This makes it easier for patrons to rest once in a while in between games without getting scorched by the heat of the sun.

Most of its tennis courts are well-maintained, though there are some grass courts that need more attention. Some need resurfacing and there’s too much sand.

We also love that the pro-shop’s often well-stocked. So if you want to buy new equipment or restring your tennis racquets, you can easily do so.

Some members also find it quite annoying that some doors that could allow them to get around the side of the courts are often closed. It makes it difficult for them to find the balls that go out of the court.

3. Pure Tennis Ferny Hills

Website: https://puretennis.com.au/

Address: 144 Samford Rd, Ferny Hills QLD 4055, Australia

Contact Details: (61) 7 3851 0444

Operating Hours: Monday, Thursday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Tuesday – Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Pure Tennis Ferny Hills is a great place to learn tennis because of its facilities, courts, and coaches. In fact, it has quite the loyal members, with most of the patrons being members for years, because of these offers.

We managed to talk to some of them, and they told us they don’t regret that they kept renewing their memberships. Pure Tennis isn’t afraid to grow, so they’re confident the quality of the service and offers will just keep improving.

The club’s also open to non-members, which we appreciate. We love how its courts and facilities are always readily available for them to book.

Another thing we love—it’s child-friendly! It has a kid’s cafe where the little ones can enjoy playing with toys, and it also has cars around the tennis courts they can enjoy.

There are complaints about the lack of food options from the cafe though (according to some patrons, there are very few choices to choose from). However, more options will be added gradually to the menu according to the club, which we’re happy to learn.

Membership fee’s reasonable even with all the discounts on court hires, freebies, and programs. You can still book courts or visit even if you’re a non-member, but we recommend joining for the privileges—the club knows how to take care of its members!

We just noticed that some courts need resurfacing as this might cause accidents. According to the club, they’ll be repaired when the budget pushes through, though there’s no need to worry because there are other courts available.

4. Shaw Park Tennis Centre

Website: https://shawparktennis.com.au/

Address: 128 Shaw Rd, Wooloowin QLD 4030, Australia

Contact Details: (61) 7 3266 1660

Operating Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

When we asked some of its members why they loved Shaw Park Tennis Centre, they told us this—it has well-maintained tennis courts and its pro-shop offers the widest range of tennis equipment. They didn’t have to look elsewhere, it’s all here!

In fact, they weren’t kidding about the pro-shop—entering it feels like entering tennis heaven! It’s a little disorganised so you might need to ask help from the staff when locating equipment, but you can find all types of racquets, balls, and apparel there.

We also love how beautiful the view is–all courts are next to Kendron Brook. It feels nice to play a medium to high-intensity sport with such a relaxing view.

Group sessions can get a little crowded sometimes, so you might have to bear with that a little bit. But there are a lot of spaces around, even little shops, so that might take away a bit of the stress.

Membership fee’s also quite affordable. We love how Shaw Park stays to its mission–encourage a lot of people to play and enjoy tennis.

We have to warn you though—book weeks in advance! The courts at Shaw Park are often fully booked due to its competitive non-member rates, so it’s better to reserve days before your intended play date.

5. Roy Emerson Tennis Centre

Website: https://emersontennis.com.au/

Address: 315 Milton Rd, Milton QLD 4064, Australia

Contact Details: (61) 7 3367 8585

Operating Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM; Friday: 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM; Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Roy Emerson Tennis Centre has some of the best well-kept court and even facilities. Whether you’re a member or not, we absolutely think you’ll enjoy this tennis club with all of its offers.

First thing we love about it—it’s rather picturesque! There’s so much green space which can serve as a playground for kids and a nice view of the park, so even those who won’t play tennis can still find some activities to enjoy.

The staff are quite friendly too! We love that they’re on standby, ready to assist any patron whether he or she is a member or not.

We also love how all facilities are professionally operated and are in good condition. For an affordable membership fee, Roy Emerson has such good facilities for you to take advantage of.

According to the members we managed to converse with, the club has the most amazing tennis programs! We love that it offers several activities for all levels of tennis skills—whether or not you’re a beginner, you’ll enjoy playing.

We’re just concerned about the booking system though. Most members we talked to said that the staff always seemed to forget about an event, therefore they always booked requests on said date.

This often led to cancelling the members’ personal bookings, and that’s not a good experience for them. We think it’s better to call and confirm the schedule a day before to avoid travelling far just to find out your booking won’t push through.
